What is NDIS Social and Community Participation?

This is a funded support category for goals relating to social participation, involvement in recreational activities and community participation. With the Aspire Hub team’s help, you can choose from a wide range of social and recreation activities and programs. Check out the list of sample activities below:

  • Enjoy bonding time with friends and family
  • Participate in social and community activities like cleaning the streets, and planting trees
  • Take up active hobbies, like riding a bike, kayaking, and running e
  • Get into in and outdoor sports such as basketball, table tennis, and volleyball
  • Go to events such as concerts, movies, or museums
  • Indulge in some mall or grocery shopping
  • Relax and invigorate with activities such as yoga, pilates, or a picnic in a park
  • Join a class that will build your skills like dancing, singing, painting, or music.

Most importantly, our tailored programs are a great way for you to get out there and meet new friends!

To be able to do all these, as an NDIS participant, you may need a support worker to assist you. This support can help you build the skills you need to participate in activities you’ve never tried. Our group activities will also help you to build relationships and make new friends.

At Aspire Hub, we will match you with a team member that shares your interests and understands your needs so you can get the most out of your experience and be excited for what the next adventure may bring.

Importance of NDIS Community Participation

Community participation basically means being involved in social, cultural, and recreational activities in your community. It might not seem like a big deal, but it’s actually really important for the well-being and quality of life of people with disabilities. By participating in community activities, people can make social connections, build relationships, and feel like they belong.

But it’s not just about socialising. Community participation can also improve your physical and mental health, andeduce loneliness and isolation, which can lead to depression. Plus, participating in physical activities like sports and fitness classes, is great for your physical health.

Thankfully, Aspire Hub provides funding to support community participation. This can include things like transport, equipment, and support workers. These features can make it easier for people with disabilities to access a wide range of community activities like social events, sports clubs, volunteering opportunities, and education programs.

But it’s not just good for individuals.  participation is also great for the wider community. It promotes inclusivity and diversity, and helps to break down barriers between people with disabilities and the rest of the community. By participating in community activities, people with disabilities can educate others about their abilities and challenges, and promote understanding and acceptance.

So, there you have it – the importance of community participation in the NDIS. It’s not just about having fun and making friends (although that’s important too!),  it’s about promoting well-being, independence, and a more inclusive society for everyone.
